Which Natural Oil Fits For Your Beard?

You have grown your beard, you bought a great  beard grooming kit with beard brush, comb & scissors and now you want to take your beard care to the next level: you need a beard oil or a beard balm.

In this article, we will focus on beard oils, that you can create with oils that you already have in your house!

The first thing you need to pay attention to is the quality of the oil. We want our oil to have all the properties and benefits it should have.

Indeed, with poor quality oil, in the best case, you will have less to no effect, and in the worst case, you might get itchiness, rash or even an allergic reaction.

So premium quality oils only! Which means mostly two characteristics :

- from the natural and organic origin (thus, chemical-free)

- cold-pressed

With these criteria, you’re already on the good track!

Let’s talk about which type of oil you need depending on your goal/issue. Maybe you want a thicker beard, maybe you want to grow it faster, maybe you just want a moisturized and glowing beard… You will for sure find an answer in the oils mentioned below.

Of course, this list is non-exhaustive but we try to mention all the oils that are the most beneficial for beard hair.

Coconut Oil: You cannot browse social media or go to your supermarket these days without running across it. Coconut oil is said to have so many benefits: the medium-chain fatty acids in it have antimicrobial properties (that can help protect against harmful microorganisms), also antifungal properties (bye-bye Candida albicans), it’s a metabolism booster, and helps you absorb more antioxidant of the food you eat. As you may understand all these benefits will be very useful for you and will keep your beard hydrated, moisturized, and healthy, as well as the skin underneath! What else?

Jojoba Oil: thanks to its anti-bacterial and antifungal properties, jojoba oil is great for preventing common problems like dandruff, or brittle hair. And thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it can also reduce redness. Another very good oil for your precious beard!

Argan Oil: this oil is the most used in Maroccan tradition, among men and women, for hair and for skin, and is often referred to as « liquid gold ». Alongside general health benefits – rich in Vitamin E, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, can reduce the sign of skin aging, may promote wound healing- the argan oil will definitely keep your beard very hydrated and moisturized. It’s also the one that will tame the frizz and will give your beard a softer and shinier touch and look.

Castor oil: this is the top oil if you want your beard (or hair in general) to grow faster. It helps improving blood circulation of the scalp, therefore encouraging facial hair growth. It helps in making beard hair thicker, fuller, and shinier. Nevertheless, you might need to mix it with another oil (like coconut or argan for example), because of its texture: castor oil is VERY thick and quite sticky, so you need a more « liquid » oil to be able to apply it without greasy effect.

Olive oil: this one is full of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and contains vitamin E which aids beard growth. Olive oil helps in beard growth by penetrating hair follicles and stimulating them. Your hair will become stronger and grow faster.

You can mix some of these oils together, or add essential oil of your choice for additional properties or smell.

If you prefer to buy an already made product specific for the beard, make sure about the origins of the ingredients as you want premium quality products for your beautiful hair and skin.
